  16. Jean Jones says:

Firstly, let me offer my sincere condolences on the loss of your husband and pray that you will be comforted and supported by family and friends. Thank you for your offer of clothing but I regret to say that we are unable to accept these as we do not have a local charity shop to handle them and neither do we have storage facilities available to us.
The only think I can suggest is that if you care to put them in the Salvation Army clothing bins which are situated in various local car parks, they will reach the Salvation Army’s recycling centre where they will be distributed to the Salvation Army’s charity shops in other parts of the country. I hope this is helpful to.
    May God bless you.

    Good Morning Julia

Thank you for your enquiry about donating the Bedding. I have checked with our Officer and unfortunately due to a lack of storage space at present we can’t take up your kind offer. Bedding is not often requested through us so long term storage would be required.

Caring Hands on the New road may have more of a requirement. I looked up the number for them as 01634 409768

Once again , thank you for thinking of us and those we support . pop in and see us some time , it’s Harvest Festival this Sunday @ 10 am

  31. Brenda Jackson says:

I wondered if you could help me find some information on a family who were with Chatham Salvation Army in the 1930s. They went out to Nairobi with the Salvation Army sometime in the 1920-1930s. By 1939 they had recently returned to England and moved to Catterick for the war effort.

    Their names were:

They had a son with them called Walter T A Brook who was born in England and a daughter born in Nairobi called Catherine Alice Mary Brook. Catherine died around ten years old of cancer.

Walter T A Brook became a Major with the British Army and ended up living in Nanuki in the 1970s. However, Walter, who is now 93, does not remember anything about his time as a child in Nairobi and keeps wondering about his fathers time there, when he joined the Salvation Army and what he did for them.

I notice on your website you have a comment about Mrs Brooks –
    August 1931

    Sun. 23
Ensign & Mrs. Brooks from Kenya Colony on furlough conducted the weekend meetings.

Please could you check your records and see if there are any documents, photographs or news cuttings about them as Walter and his wife Olwyn spend so much time reminiscing about how much they loved Kenya and wishing they knew more about his parents time with the Salvation Army.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

I have recently resumed as the Manager at Boots Strood High street where I was made aware of a large collection of Xmas gifts which I understand were raised for your organisation.
I was informed that you were to come and collect the gifts earlier in the year.
I have made several calls to your office but no one ever picks up.
Is it possible you send someone round to pick them up please as our customers made a lot of effort to donate these items and we wouldn’t want their efforts to go unappreciated
