"Bringing Christ to People and People to Christ"

Desert Island Discs 6

This weeks contribution to Desert Island Disc is from Paul Woodhouse

Paul Writes…

Like many others before it was almost an impossible task to choose favourite songs, as so many songs mean different things at different times.

My first song Is a constant reminder that things do not always go to plan. Often, I have found myself not knowing which way to go, no ray of light. That is when I need to trust more, fear less, and put total trust in God.

The second song I have chosen is by George Matheson (Best listen to with headphones).

There is a popular account on why George Matheson wrote this text. His fiancée left him before their marriage when she found out he would soon be totally blind. There are some phrases in the hymn reflecting a broken heart such as “flickering torch” and “borrowed ray” and tracing of the “rainbow through the rain”.   The conclusion for him and us is that god love will never go away and is constant.

O love that will not let me go.

My last song is going back to basics. I have a habit (like many of us) of over complicating my faith and this song simply says Jesus loves me for the bible tells me so. I absolutely love this arrangement and I hope you will enjoy Richard at the Piano.

Jesus loves me! This I know,
For the Bible tells me so;
Little ones to Him belong,
They are weak, but He is strong.

Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
The Bible tells me so.

Jesus loves me! He who died,
Heaven’s gate to open wide;
He will wash away my sin,
Let His little child come in.

Jesus loves me! He will stay,
Close beside me all the way;
If I love him when I die,

He will take me home on high.
