Community Carol Services 2019

This weekend saw us host our two Community Carol services , both Saturday & Sunday were very well attended, and on the Sunday we welcomed our Civic Leaders, the Mayor & Mayoress of Medway  and also  the Queens representative, Deputy Lieutenant Col. Gilbert

The Guests were greeted by the YP Band playing Carols outside

The Theme of the 12 days of Christmas was used , but  the focus was on Gifts of Christmas .

The Concert opened with  12 Drummers

Following the Drummers we had our first Carol – O Come all Ye Faithfull

Major Ian  gave a welcome to everyone and then following the Theme we continued  to have music from our Pipers – playing Joy To The World

The Congregation had a chance to sing again , with ” In the Bleak Midwinter & Ding Dong Merrily on High  . The Gift referred to was the Corps itself , and all the activities that take place here

Our Singing Company were the Next Gift, Major Ian Spoke of the Scouting Sections that are associated with the Corps . The Singing Company  Sang the song  ” Where shall we go this Christmas ” and we  were treated to some excellent dance moves related to the various countries named in the song

Our Senior Band played Angels From Glory

we next heard from Paul Woodhouse with a vocal  Solo   ” Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire”

We had a classic Christmas reading from Territorial Envoy Tony McClure , supported by the Band playing  “Shepherd Farewell ”

This was followed by  a lively performance from our Timbrels with a routine  entitled   – On Christmas Parade

A few more Carols followed – ” A Starry Night & While Shepherds watched ”  and then we heard from our YP  Band , who played Good King Wenceslas

While the YP Band stayed on the Platform , we had some children called up to call in Father Christmas, with the special Bell

Thanks were given for all the donations given, that can now be distributed to those in need this Christmas .

We all joined in with a couple more Carols – ” Joy to the World ” &  “As With Gladness ” and following this our Songsters  sang two songs  ” Christmas Tide” & ” Rejoice with Exceeding Great Joy ”

Following a quick set change by Steve & Rob

We had a brief interruption by our cleaners  Holly & Ivy, who gave us a great comedy  sketch , but still delivered a message about Christmas .

Our concert drew to a close with the gathering of the main characters in the nativity story , during which we were singing “Silent Night”  & “Hark The Herald ” .

Major Ian delivered his Christmas message and some of the Band gathered on the platform to close the concert with  ” We Wish You A Merry Christmas ”

The remainder of the Band gathered outside to play  Carols for people as they were leaving

Thank you to my Photographers Debbie Abbott , Major Estelle Clack & Lauren Officer
