and this was the 3rd in her series of sermons with a Beach theme
Major Judith read from the Bible
Ephesians 3.14 – 19: I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge – that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God..
Following this we heard a recording of the ISS singing the John Gowans song – Everywhere
This was used as a time of Gratitude
Prayers were said for those of our Corps who were absent this week , either for ill health or Holidays , or attending/working at summer camp.

Following this Major Judith revealed the theme of todays Beach , it was the Beach of 2nd chances . We were going to look at an Old testament version, following the story of Jonah , where the Fish spat him out on the Beach, and this gave him the second chance to obey God and go to Nineveh to preach .
We also looked at a New testament example , the Beach on the sea of Gallilee where Jesus met the Disciples after their fishing trip, and cooked breakfast for them . Where he asked Peter three times if he Loved him and said to him ” Follow me ” , thus giving Peter a second chance

Message from the Word
Major Judith spoke of Peter , someone who was transformed over his lifetime, from Fisherman to Church Leader, it was a gradual learning process and he made mistakes . God gave him second chances . We make mistakes in our lives , but we need to hold on to the Lord & he will see us through , the Beach of second chances is a place where we can celebrate his love
Major Judith quoted from 2 Corinthians 12
– in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
