The mainly music and Mummy and Me parent and toddler groups, which meet at the hall on Mondays and Fridays respectively, ended their summer term with a series of fun activities – and a few goodbyes.
Earlier in the month, the children enjoyed ice creams after their activities.
These always go down well – especially when they are allowed to add their own choice of sprinkles! (see pictures) Following that, there was sports day. The children enjoyed races of different kinds and adults joined in for a tunnelball competition. At times it was total chaos, but everyone seemed to enjoy themselves!
Several children were leaving the groups to start school, and their farewell was marked with an informal ceremony. Wearing caps and cloaks made by Majors Raymond and Pat Brown, the children posed for photographs. They were also presented with a certificate and a toddler Bible to remind them of their time in the group.
The final meeting of the term was held at the Strand, as has been the custom for quite a few years. About a dozen families, some with older children or grandparents in tow, enjoyed a time of fellowship, play and a picnic. The weather was perfect and it was a great way to end the year.
