Nigeria: While attacks by Boko Haram in Northern Nigeria have reduced dramatically over the last six months, the situation in middle Nigeria is escalating. Nine Christians were shot dead by armed Fulani tribesmen in central Plateau State on 7 November as they returned from a weekly village market. The incident is the latest in a series of deadly attacks carried out by Fulani on Christian communities. On 14 October, attackers descended on one village, burnt over 30 houses and destroyed farmlands, despite a dusk-to-dawn curfew imposed by the governor. Please pray for the victims’ families and that the local government and police would do more to prevent further attacks.
Somalia: On 28 October, a bomb attack by the Islamic extremist group al-Shabaab killed at least 27 people in Mogadishu, including children. The attack was just two weeks after a bomb attack in the city on 14 October, which killed over 350 people including Christians. Please pray for comfort for all who have been affected by these devastating attacks.
India: Recently, six Indian Christians in Jharkhand state were falsely charged and jailed for a month after they prayed over a woman who was sick. Hindu extremists attacked them and when police were summoned, two of the Christians were beaten by officers. Yet they praised God throughout and even led several of their fellow inmates to Christ. Praise God for their courage and determination to share the gospel but also please pray for God to protect them and their families and that all charges against them will be dropped.
