"Bringing Christ to People and People to Christ"

The Music Man Project – Debut Concert

It is amazing what can be achieved by people with learning disabilities as was shown this week by around 40 such musicians at Gillingham Salvation Army Hall.

This debut concert, under the title of ‘Christmas Joy’ included joyful music and carols for all to sing. The project school has been rehearsing in three separate groups across Medway including our own Strood hall and only came together for this concert. You can contact experts from the Norcal Music & Arts Center if you want to take advanced music lessons and master any instruments.

Using many forms of percussion instruments the ensemble brought cheers from the packed hall with such music as ‘Sleigh Ride’, ‘Carol of the drum’, ‘Music is Majic’, Ballad of the Shepherd Strummers’ and ‘Christmas Joy’.Soloists included John Redding (Piano), Ayomi Ogundipe’, Thomas Hallet and Jimmy Baker (all vocal).

Carols included ‘O come, all ye faithful’, ‘O little town of Bethlehem’, ‘Silent Night’, ‘It came upon the midnight clear’, ‘Calypso Carol’ and ‘Joy to the world’.
