New prayer initiatives (2) Growing Prayer Together

The second of our new prayer initiatives began last Wednesday and continues for a further 6 weeks. The following is information provided by Nigel Day, who is managing the course.

Here at The Salvation Army we have a varied programme of study courses and a new one started last Wednesday, 4th October. It is the second of the Salvation Army produced ‘Prayer School’ DVDs which deal with different aspects of prayer. We ran the first course a few months ago and this covered the topic of personal prayer and proved to be very interesting and informative to all those who attended.

This second course is entitled “One Thing for the Church – Growing Prayer Together” and focuses on praying as a Church community. The course lasts for seven weeks and consists of an interactive DVD, including interviews, some teaching and personal testimony about prayer along with suggested discussion questions and each session will last about an hour or an hour and a quarter.

It would be great to see even more people attending and taking an interest in possibly the most important part of the life of any Church – Prayer! If you want further information please CONTACT US, see me (Nigel Day) or click here to access the appropriate page on Salvation Army’s territorial website.

Here is a corporate prayer for our church community which we are all encouraged to pray.

‘Father God, I pray for my church today, that you will fill each of us with your joy and peace and that, in our worship, our fellowship and mission we will overflow with hope, by the power of your Holy Spirit, in the name of your son Jesus Christ, Amen’  (based on Romans 15:13)
