GOOD NEWS STORIES / ANSWERED PRAYER

Syria:  On 8th February the Bishop of Homs, with money from overseas Christians, opened a furniture factory in the city which is giving employment to around 30 people.   Please pray for courage and protection for those who remain in this fought over city and that this work will prosper.

Sudan:  Lawyer Mohaned Mustapha, who has been successful in defending Christian prisoners, has himself been cleared of made up charges. Please pray for his protection and that the many other Christians detained in prison will have access to justice and ultimately be released.

Ethiopia:  Somali convert and evangelist Nur Hussein was released from jail on bail on 30th March after just 21 days. This is indeed a miracle as Police can keep those suspected of terrorism locked up indefinitely according to the country’s antiterrorism laws.

URGENT PRAYER NEEDED

Pakistan:  At least 72 people were killed and more than 280 injured in a suicide bombing attack in a park popular with Lahore’s Christian community, packed with families celebrating the Easter weekend. The explosion occurred in a car park close to the children’s swings as many families were leaving. Most of the victims were women and children. The attack has been claimed by a Pakistani Taliban faction which said it had deliberately targeted Christians and have threatened more suicide attacks. Please pray for comfort and   healing for the victims of this merciless attack and that the government authorities will seriously support and protect the Christian minority in Pakistan.

Nigeria:  An estimated 20,000 people were displaced   when Muslim Fulani herdsmen killed at least 500 people in the mainly Christian area of Agatu in the central Benue state on the night of 21 February.   Their plight is desperate and people are dying in the camp due to lack of food. Please pray for international awareness of this situation and that emergency aid, along with spiritual and pastoral care can be provided very soon.
