Ladies of Kent sail the Kentish Lady

Members of the Ladies Fellowship, many accompanied by husbands and friends, enjoyed a three hour cruise on the Kentish Lady.

Departing from the quayside at the Bishop’s Palace, Maidstone, in the early evening it was not long before the picnic boxes were being attacked with vigour. Every comfort was catered for on board as the party sailed up river towards East Farleigh Lock where the crew displayed skill in operating the traditional mechanisms for raising the craft to a new water level. Continuing on to Teston, passengers were treated to a display of Kent bird life, including a Heron and Kingfisher, resplendent in its blue and brown markings.

The earlier showers having vanished the late evening was enhanced by dappled sunshine as the happy passengers returned to Maidstone. All seemed to agree that it had been a very relaxed and enjoyable evening. It was disappointing that a few guests had to withdraw because of late alterations to a rehearsal schedule but those who went were well satisfied with the evening.

Here are some photos.
