Vouchers for Scout Campers
A report from Rob Christie who runs the Scout Group,
Last year with the help of the corps, the Scout Group collected almost 1200 Sainsburys Active Kids vouchers and we only started collecting with only six weeks to go. These vouchers were exchanged for sports equipment (including some footballs, an endurance kit and some foot steps!) and some cooking equipment, including colanders, measuring jugs and knives and kitchen scissors.
The new equipment arrived at the end of last year so we haven’t been able to use them on Camp yet but the Scouts got everything out on Monday night to see what we had got. Here are some photos to show you what fun they had using everything. This year we’re hoping to collect even more vouchers and get some more equipment for the Beavers, Cubs Scouts and Explorers – age range from 6 to 18. There is a collection box on the wall in the Junior hall for people to leave their vouchers.
Rob would like to thank everyone for their tremendous support last year and will try and get some pictures of the new equipment being used ‘in the field’ later in the year.
In the meantime, please start saving your Sainsbury Active Kids Vouchers, from 17 February, and donate them to the Scout Group either by putting them in the box on the wall in our secondary hall, or post them to the Salvation Army, Church Street, Chatham, Kent, ME4 4BT.
