Rainham Ladies Choir Christmas Concert
Once again the Rainham Ladies Choir has held its annual Christmas Charity Concert in the Royal Dockyard Church, sharing the programme with the Band.
The Band, under the leadership of Bandmaster Carl Woodman, opened the concert with ‘The Spirit of Christmas’ and included the ‘Trepak from the Nutcracker’ and ‘Thou must leave Thy Lowly Dwelling’ amongst the classical works performed. Other items included ‘A Christmas Bolero’ and the Euphonium solo ‘Ding Dong Merrily on High’ played by Adrian Horwood.
The Band also accompanied the audience in six traditional carols.
The choir, under the leadership of Brian Skinner and accompanied by Janet Stone, sang more traditional carols and also included ‘Lute Book Lullaby’, ‘Candlelight Carol’, ‘The Lord Bless You and Keep You’, ‘Were you there on that Christmas Night?’ and ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas’.
The proceeds from the evening were donated to Imperial Cancer Research (now part of Cancer Research UK).
