The handover of our newly converted building is due today.

The former front entrance

As regular readers will know the last 12 weeks have been filled with eager anticipation of this day arriving, when the altered construction area is handed back into the possession of the corps.  The rear part of the worship hall has been converted into a foyer/cafe space which is designed to encourage social gathering of both church members and members of the public in a comfortable and nonthreatening environment. Despite delays in one particular aspect of the works the Contractor, H Goodsell & Son of Maidstone, has successfully pulled back a 7 day delay and will finish on time. Thanks are due for his sterling efforts.

Pictures below show the counter area and the bar. New furniture, as yet still in its protective wrapping, can also be seen. It is intended to use the area for a 24/7 prayer activity this coming weekend, starting at 9am tomorrow morning and concluding at 9am on Sunday. Visitors are welcome to come and share in the prayerful preparation for the vision of the corps in becoming a community hub in the Medway Towns.

  1. I must admit to being a bit sceptical as to how this was all going to work but am now very confident that it has been the right thing to do. Just over this week-end it has been so helpful to have a hospitable place in which to spend some time and I can see in future it will be so worthwhile. I’m sure God will bless it.
A big thank you to everyone for the thought and planning that has gone into its development and thanks to God for answered prayers.

  2. I’d like to second that thanks to Adrian. Without Adrian and Drew’s tenacity and determination this would not have happened. Thank you!

  3. My personal thanks go to Adrian Horwood who has driven this project so far and it is a credit to his tenacity that we now have this excellent facility. I would also like to thank Murray Smith on the corps’ behalf for his support in being our go between with the contractor who has done a good job for us.
