Shoe Boxes
Our friends at Blythswood Care are currently engaged in the annual Shoe Box Appeal.
Last year Blythswood Care contributed 130,000 plus boxes to the appeal. While these figures are great, there are many children and adults who did not have a shoebox because there were not enough. Blythswood Care has five main depots; Deephaven (Nr. Inverness) and Glasgow in Scotland, Ballyclare (Northern Ireland), Bristol and Medway. It also has a co-ordinator in Leicestershire. More information and details, together with contact telephone numbers, can be found on the website :- www.shoeboxappeal.org. If the reader lives in the Medway area, then please ‘phone June on 01634 291411 who will be pleased to advise. If you are able to help please only fill the average size shoebox. The Salvation Army’s local Ladies Fellowship is, itself, participating again this year and will be ‘wrapping and chatting’ next Monday (9 November) at its Church Street premises (8pm – 9pm). All are welcome to come and share in the fun whilst helping those in severe need.
The Medway Depot of Blythswood is situated at 32A, Riverside 1, Sir Thomas Longley Road, Medway City Estate, and would be delighted to receive your shoe box if it is easier to deliver it there. Please remember that every shoebox makes a difference.
If you would like to deliver your box to The Salvation Army in Church Street the maps below will show you how to find us:

Your readers may be interested to know that a Shoebox Appeal along the lines of the UK model also runs in New Zealand and Australia, and no doubt many other affluent countries as well. The gifts donated in NZ this year will be sent to Fiji and the Solomon Islands. More information at http://www.samaritanspurse.org.nz/occ_08_index.shtml
