Songsters at Ramsgate
Last Saturday evening Chatham Citadel Songsters, under the leadership of Adrian Horwood, provided a musical festival at The Salvation Army in Ramsgate. The meeting was well attended by local ‘Salvationists’ and members of other churches in the town.
The songsters took as their theme “God in three persons – Father, Son and Holy Spirit.” Each section was supported with relevant songs and Bible readings, and a clear message was given with the music. Amongst the pieces used were ‘Our God’ and ‘Psalm of Thanks’ (Father), ‘Sweet Jesus’ and ‘In the Name of the Lord’ (Son) and ‘Spirit Divine’ and Breathe’ (Spirit).
A short interval, during which members of the songster brigade greeted and spoke with many of the congregation, was followed by the final part of the festival. This focussed on telling others the good news of the gospel.
An enjoyable programme concluded with the singing of “Vesper”, with the words “give us peace” providing an apt benediction on the evening.
