Police recognise Julian
Major Julian Rowley, corps officer at The Salvation Army’s Hinckley corps, is a son of our own Mike and Muriel Rowley and spent many years here at Chatham before becoming a Salvation Army officer. Julian was recently recognised by the Leicestershire constabulary for his quick response when PC Mike Smith collapsed whilst on duty last November. Working as a street pastor, Julian and other members of the team gave support, not only to PC Smith but to other police officers involved in the incident. He later continued his pastoral support to Mike in future days.
The picture shows Julian (centre) with Chief Constable Matt Baggott (left) and PC Smith after an awards ceremony at police headquarters.

I head up a team of Street Pastors here in Peckham – it’s great to hear good reports from teams nation-wide! Dave Simms
