An Open Songster Rehearsal

Last week Songster rehearsal was open to all who wished to attend. The special guest was Andrew Blyth, Assistant Territorial Music Director for The Salvation Army in the United Kingdom.

A number of former songsters and others interested joined the current members as Andrew introduced two of his new songs and explained something of his thoughts and feelings in writing them. The words of ‘This Mighty King’ were written by Dawn Neeve of Canterbury Corps and those of  ‘Limitless Grace’ by none other than our own General John Gowans (R). This latter was at a particularly low time in Andrew’s life and speaks of the limitless grace of God  in lifting us from our worst moments. The song ‘Thank You for Saving Me’ is strongly connected in its sentiments and musical form and he confessed that he had never lost his faith but had strayed and was indebted to God for His ‘limitless grace’. The picture below shows Andrew speaking to the group following some much appreciated refreshments.
