Territorial Youth Band

We love it when our youngsters send us information about what they have been doing. Rebecca sent us the following about her first experience of Territorial Youth Band.

Rebecca

I went to the Territorial Youth Band course and stayed at the Carrington Hotel, Bournemouth from Monday 16th February until Friday 21st February 2009.

It was a fun experience playing my cornet a lot and being part of a large band with other young Salvationists aged 12 to 16 years old. I was the youngest and after the audition was given the position of 3rd second cornet. (There were 7 second cornets in total) As well as playing we had bible study and prayers everyday.

My highlight of the week was when the International Staff Band came and played to us on Wednesday evening. They played some of the items that we were going to play on Friday evening at the Lighthouse Theatre, Poole.

We had two pieces written especially for TYB by Paul Sharman. One was called “Purpose”, the first time it had ever been played to an audience, and the other “The Power of The Cross”. I loved both of them.

My favourite piece for the week was “Dance like David” by Andrew Mackereth. It was hard work but great fun.

I’m hoping to go again next year.

Emma and Martin Davis also attended (Emma taking part in the Territorial Youth Choir) and are pictured below.
