Monday Spot (9 February 2009)
This week many people have experienced difficulty getting about due to the heavy snowfall which began last Sunday and has lasted most of the week. However, the Monday lunch was provided for the needy, rehearsals went on as usual and the Contagious Christianity course was held on Wednesday and Sunday.
On Saturday evening, the Songsters and Band were the guest musical sections at Sittingbourne Corps 125th Anniversary celebrations and provided a musical feast. Here are a few photos taken during the evening.
The meetings on Sunday were led by Cadets Rachel and Karl Carpenter, the morning meeting being based on the theme ‘Experience it’ with particular reference to Ephesians 3: 14-21.
Music ministry brought blessing and was provided by the Singing Company and Songsters who sang ‘Do Something Beautiful’ and ‘One life to live’ respectively. Songs included Song 16, SoF 935, ‘Our God is a great big God‘, SoF 780, SoF 1084 and SoF42. Helen Page was presented with her Junior Musician and Timbrelist commissions. Cadet Rachel, in her message, said that we should not forget who God is. He is God. Our lives need to be invigorated through God’s Holy Spirit controlling the centre of our being so that our lives show His love. God’s love can be known by each of us and is much greater than we can imagine.

The evening meeting began with the reading of Psalm 148 informing the theme ‘Can he do it? Yes He can’. Songs included Song 17, Song 37, Song 183 and Song 56. Other scripture used was Ephesians 3:14-21 dwelling especially on verses 19 -21. The Band’s contribution ‘In Good Company’ and the Songsters’ song ‘Praise His Name’ were well received. Cadet Rachel reminded us that if we don’t ask we don’t get. God can do far more than we ask or imagine but we need to remember to ask God. Nothing is too difficult for Him to handle and we should recognize His greatness. She related evidence of God’s greatness in answering prayers concerning work with children at Southport. God’s Spirit is at work within us and we need to bring to Him our dreams so that He can surprise us with His power.
The Ladies Fellowship meets tonight (9th) at an earlier time, 7.30pm, as it is film night. Let’s hope the snow keeps away.
Stay blessed. Thanks for your contact. Have a good week.
