Successful Welcome Team Review

The Fellowship Purpose Group (Leader Sam Wood) has recently held a review of the Welcome Team initiative at the Corps which was launched in October 2008.

Sam Wood

The purpose of the Welcome Team is to ensure that everyone who visits Chatham Corps receives a greeting and all the information they need to feel welcomed. The system is that Welcome Officers are stationed at the doors to greet and hand over an order of service leaflet.  If needed, Corps Guides are available to escort visitors to their seats, introduce themselves and give newcomers a ‘Welcome Pack’ .  Two types of packs are available, one for adults and one for children.

Feedback by Welcome Officers and Corps Guides at the review meeting was mainly positive and helpful, the most pleasing being that ‘Im really feeling as though I’m taking part in the church family and that I belong’, ‘I feel uplifted’.

The result of the ‘Welcome Pack’ review is that within the first 4 months 13 adult packs have been distributed from which 5 contact cards have been returned.   These contacts have now become regular attendees.   38% success rate!

5 children’s packs have been distributed and every recipient now attends KAOS (Kids Alive on Sundays).  100% success rate!!

If you have visited our Corps since October 2008 as a newcomer we would welcome some feedback from you as to how you were greeted.    Please use the Comments box below, and thank you.
