Monday Spot (12 January 2009)
This Sunday’s meetings were led by Cadets Rachel and Karl Carpenter. The morning meeting was based on the theme of ‘Choices!’. All age thought ‘Choices, choices ..need some guidance?’ and the main message was entitled ‘See, Hear, Do!‘ .
The introduction to the meeting was through selected verses of Psalm 105 followed by Song 19. Other songs included Song 356, SoF1498, SoF895, SoF1561 and Song 283. The main scripture portion chosen was Luke 19:1-10. The Singing Company and Songsters both provided music ministry by singing ‘Lord, you are more precious’ and ‘Moment by moment’ respectively. The message contained the reminder that the choices we make through life influence the kind of people we become. God loves us as we are and wants the very best for us and our future. When we need to make decisions we should see what the Bible says to us, speak to God and also to other people who have our best interests at heart.
The evening meeting was based on the theme ‘Be Still and Know’. Songs used included Song 16, SoF40, SoF1067, SoF41 and Song 717. The music ministry provided by the Songsters ‘Grace Alone’ and the Band ‘For You’ was helpful in support of the theme. Through references to scripture in Psalm 46: 10; Luke 10: 38-42 and Hebrews 12:1-3 the message was to rest in God’s presence and Let God be God.
