EVERYBODY LOVES A WEDDING

Well, it’s true! And this was a very special wedding!

Gina & Martin

It’s quite unusual to have a wedding on a Sunday afternoon but that was the choice of the happy couple, Martin & Gina, and it really said a lot about their journey to matrimony. Having been ‘together’ for a number of years this happy occasion has sealed their new found faith in God and, of course, in themselves. Here’s one more photo to whet the appetite but if you want to see more, visit us again tomorrow when we shall bring an account of this lovely ceremony.

After the ceremony

Our day began with the morning meeting, led by Cadets Karl and Rachel Carpenter.

The theme was ‘Love God/Love Others – Loving it! Living it!’ and was based on Mark 12:28-31. Songs 19 and 506 from the Salvation Army Song Book were used alongside 859, 1013 and 1346 from Songs of Fellowship. the Singing Company and Songsters both brought musical ministry with ‘He Sought Me’ and ‘Compelled by Love’ respectively.

In an all-age thought about love Major Drew found himself covered in love hearts. We have been told we must include this photograph!

The meeting included a Toy Offering which will help to swell the number of toys received at our Central Theatre Carol Concerts next weekend and will mean that the requests of the needy in Medway can be better met.

In her address Rachel said because of Jesus’ answer to his question the teacher of the law questioned Jesus further. The people in the crowd were chattering and Jesus needed to get their attention. He said ‘the Lord our God is one, the one and only true God that is worthy’. The rest of his answer is in the scripture. God wants us to love him with our whole being. Often we love things that don’t really matter but God loves us in a way which changes things. Our love for Him is a response to His love for us. How do you show this love? Do you love your ‘neighbour’. First of all we need to love ourselves. We need to see ourselves as the person God created us to be. Then we can love others. all people. Our love is not a self-indulgent love but must reach the world around us. Love God and love others!

As we reflect on a day when love was so much in evidence we give thanks for the miracles God performs in the lives of people. We congratulate Martin and Gina on their marriage and wish them and their family all the very best of God’s provision. God loves you, and so do we. Look out for those pics tomorrow.
