Fund Raising Garden Party
Olive Long is a member of our neighbouring corps at Sheerness, approximately 20 miles from Chatham. She has recently held a garden party to raise funnds for her corps.
Olive, with her husband Terry, is a regular attender of our own Sunday evening meetings because Sheerness currently has no second meeting in its programme.
The occasion was an excellent opportunity for us to meet the new officer at Sheerness, Captain Bronnie Rimmer who has been in post for only 3 weeks. Bronnie has been an officer for just 2 years and her first appointment was at Plumstead, a position she held for 18 months. Olive said that Sheerness corps is delighted with the appointment and feels relieved that new leadership has been found. In one of the pictures below Bronnie can be seen reading to the children at the garden party.
The event was atttended by over 50 people including members of local churches, residents of the local holiday park and work colleagues. It raised £100 for the corps funds.
