Fundraising Concert for Searchers Trip

Last Saturday (19 July) the Medway Singers gave a concert in our Church St Hall to raise funds for the Young Searchers forthcoming trip to Tanzania.

Neil Jones, conductor

The choir offered a varied programme ranging from madgrigals to the Beatles, including music by John Rutter and Gabriel Faure. It was clear to the audience that the singers enjoyed what they were doing and there was evidence of good choral training. Medway Singers are always looking for new members and rehearse on Monday evenings at Frindsbury Baptist Church. Anyone interested should contact Josie Ryder at 01634 300725

Nine members of the Young Searchers leave this coming Saturday for Tanzania where they will work at the Matumaini School for the Physically Disabled in Dar-es-Salaam. The work will include painting and decorating and general helping tasks together with a programme of arts and crafts involving about 200 nursery children aged between 3 and 7 years.

The Young Searchers will also participate in a Safari and live in a local village. We wish them ‘bon voyage’ and pray for a safe return from what will be, for many, a holiday of a lifetime. We will report on the trip later.
