Junior Soldiers have Hope

A very full programme was led by YPSM Tracy Wood and Junior Soldiers Sergeant Melanie Scoulding last Sunday morning when it was the Junior Soldiers Day of Renewal.    It included a dedication, enrolment of four new Junior Soldiers and the presentation of a Gold JS award.

During the meeting Major Kathy conducted the dedication of Cadence Jasmine, baby daughter of Janelle and Cameron Ivers, and brother of Brandon, who decided to be unusually shy.   Prayers were requested for this family who will soon be returning to their homeland in Australia after Dad Cameron served a term under the colours of the Royal Engineers Band.

Four new Junior Soldiers were enrolled:   Mitchell Castle, Helena Goddard, Bethany Boughton and Florence Scott.    Mitchell was the spokesperson for the group and testified to his knowledge of Jesus in his life and apologised to those ‘who had put up with him in the primary’.

All the members of KAOS, (Kids Alive on Sunday), including the Primary, joined in the singing of songs as part of the meeting, and were supported by the YP Band, Singing Company, Senior Band and Songster Brigade.

The theme of ‘Hope’ had been illustrated individually by the Junior soldiers and these were shown on the screen while the offering was taken.    In addition, Axel Tranah stood at the easel and painted his interpretation of Hope during the meeting – finally revealing it to be God’s hands holding the universe.

Two very moving testimonies were given by Jessica Scott and Stephanie Lenton who both told of the hardships of being bullied but that Jesus was very real to them and was giving them strength each day.    Stephanie read a poem she had written about bullies which will be included on this site at a future date.

As the Junior Soldiers renewed their promises they were invited to stick them on the ‘Wall of Hope’ at the mercy seat and the congregation was able to write their own prayers to go on this wall.
