News from the Worship Purpose Group

Greg, the Worship Purpose Group (WPG) leader, has sent in this update.

The Worship Purpose Group continues to be busy in the background and will be holding a meeting in the fairly near future.   However, readers might like to know what’s been happening in the mean time.

This week saw the second quarterly ‘Worship planning’ meeting.   This meeting is held in order that the Commanding Officers, the Section Leaders and myself as WPG leader, can co-ordinate the next quarter’s meeting themes with the intention of integratiing music, prayer, poetry, drama, and anything else that may add to our worship, with the officers’ preaching plan.   Much positive feedback was received regarding the last quarter’s worship, with the choice of music and the way it linked into the theme of the meetings being much appreciated.    The ‘Compelled by Love’ theme was particularly well received, as was the inclusion of the YP Band.   Thanks is due to all who have contributed to our worship in the last three months.

In this coming quarter, various non-musical groups from within the Corps will be asked to contribute in specific ways and the Commanding Officers will be in touch with those concerned in due course.   There will also be opportunity for drama and poetry to be included – so if you are interested in being involved (no age limit) then just let me know. Other things happening in the WPG include:

  • Preparations for a WPG event.   Details of this exciting event will be announced as soon as the date has been agreed.
  • Ongoing development and use of the prayer diary so efficiently organised by Peter Cole.
  • Consideration as to having a name badge day or photo wall, so that people can put a name to a face!

Greg can be contacted via the website or, if you live locally, by speaking to him personally.
