Down by the Riverside
About 80 people, members of the corps, friends and families, spent Bank Holiday Monday ‘Down by the Riverside’.
The River Medway near Teston Lock
Fellowship Purpose Group Leader Sam Wood organised a superb day at Teston Bridge Country Park and even managed to ensure great weather! The sun shone from a cloudless sky all day.
Everyone brought food ‘to share’ which was set out in the SA gazebo and spent a few relaxing hours eating it (and chatting of course). Many took a walk to the lock and watched the river craft navigating the change in levels whilst the more energetic enjoyed football, rounders and other group pastimes. The ice cream van was in great demand and, for once, calories didn’t seem to matter. It was nice to see people of all ages enjoying themselves together and it was good to welcome some we don’t see too often.
This was a new venue for our fellowship day out due to the fact that Mote Park was being prepared for a pop concert. Could be that we won’t return, this venue was so good.
Here is a selection of pictures taken on the day:

it was a great day. Thank you to Sam and every one who helped. It would be good to do it again soon.

Aaah how lovely. Its a shame I missed it, the kids would have loved that, spending time with their friends at Chatham Salvation Army and the park all in one! Looks like you all had fun anyway!

Looks like your Corps had a great time. I remember going on picnics with my Officer parents. Lots of fun.
