A Day out at Leeds Castle

A family day out at Leeds Castle (donated free of charge by the castle) was the subject of sealed bids at the Quiz Night held at the end of January. The proceeds were given to the corps building fund.

The highest bid received was that of Verna Smith who offered to take three KAOS children (whose names were drawn out of a hat) for a day of fun during the school half term break. Jessica, Gareth and Jodie were the lucky winners. None needed too much encouragement to escape their parents for a day especially as food was also included in the package.

A great day was enjoyed and the castle provided some interesting activities for children as it always does during school holidays. The weather was great and the children enjoyed seeing the large variety of bird life, including a display of falconry. They were very interested in the Castle itself with its history involving King Henry VIII and, more recently, former Prime Minister Tony Blair. The Aviary, the Maze and the Adventure Playground (Knight’s Realm) also proved very popular.
