Christmas in Bygone Years
This was the theme when Major Kathy led the annual residents’ carol service at Abbeyfield House in Wigmore
Approximately 40 people, comprising residents, family members, members of the Support Group and staff, shared the occasion which has become traditional at the house. Many favourite carols were sung and accompanied by a small brass group from the corps and Kathy invited those present to share their experiences of Christmas from bygone years. Only one of the residents was alive in 1914 at the outbreak of the first world war but several are not far behind. The stories were interesting and nostalgic and everyone seemed to enjoy the time together.
Following the service refreshments were provided and many conversations continued well into the late evening.
