RSA is compere
Following mention in a recent Monday Spot we are now able to bring more news of the Medway Band (Kent Messenger) concert given at The Salvation Army, Gravesend on 17 November.
The Medway Band (Kent Messenger)
Chris Horton, principle horn in our own corps band, is pictured beneath the crest in the centre of the photo.
Chris tells us that Lt. Col. Ray Steadman-Allen (RSA) compered part of the programme and gave an insight into his great knowledge of music. He also conducted the band as will be seen in one of the photos below. Band Director Melvyn White also compered part of the programme.
Soloists included Mark Hall (euphonium – ‘Rule Britannia’), Susan White (baritone – ‘Story of Old’) and Lydia Fidler (horn – ‘Demelza’) and the band included ‘Festival Prelude’ and ‘Walking with God’ amongst its items. The sharing of Christian music, in particular Salvation Army music, with concert bands is a modern development and is a way of allowing the message of God to reach more people than it otherwise would.
We give below a selection of pictures taken during the evening.
