The War Cry
Regular readers will remember a comment received by this website in response to our Monday Spot of 5 November 2007 and the Editor’s Note promising more on the subject of Rachel Abbott’s initiative in selling the War Cry in Chatham High Street.
Here, in Rachel’s own words, is the story. She says:
I have been selling the War Cry outside the Pentagon (Chatham’s main shopping mall) for approximately 6 weeks now. As was mentioned in the morning meeting recently I decided to take on this role after seeing other churches and faiths out in the High Streets. I felt that this was something that I could do to make The Salvation Army accessible and visible to a few more people on a Saturday afternoon while they were out and about shopping.
Most weeks I am there between 2pm and 3pm, although the week the photos were taken we were out a little bit later which is why it was dark. I have enjoyed this experience and met some really interesting people who I would not have come into contact with otherwise. My Dad has also enjoyed standing in for me once when I had school commitments (I am currently doing A Level studies). I finish school on Saturday at 1pm and although my life has become very full I feel this is what God has asked me to do at this time.
Editor’s Note: Rachel, we would encourage you in what you are doing for God. Keep us informed about any developments.
Well done Rachel. Keep up the good work.
