Last Monday our Ladies Fellowship received a visit from Robin Bryant, former chief photographer for The Salvation Army in the UK. Jean Jones, our Ladies Fellowship correspondent sends us this report:

We had a good time this week at Ladies Fellowship. It was both educational and enjoyable. Robin Bryant told us how he first became interested in photography and then how he applied for and was given the job of The Salvation Army’s official photographer. It was very helpful to us to have explained how to make the best use of our digital cameras and to see how pictures can be manipulated, with the appropriate software, to become something very different from the original photos.

On the day that the Tsunami struck, Robin was asked to go to the stricken area to take photographs. He showed us some of the tragic pictures and told of the stories of families who had been made homeless, and motherless, by these two massive Tsunami waves. He showed us, too, the work of The Salvation Army and how the aim had been to provide something even better for those who had lost everything.

Robin’s sincerity in delivering this message was obvious and did much to enhance the esteem in which The Salvation Army is held for its great work. He said that the words of the chorus ‘Standing somewhere in the shadows, you’ll find Jesus. He’s the only one who cares and understands. Standing somewhere in the shadows you will find Him. Any you’ll know Him by the nailprints in His hands.’ is very applicable exactly where we are today. We can see the shadows of life around us in Chatham and we pray that God will be found in the work that we do through The Salvation Army.

Jean also sent these pictures of some of the group:
