Apparenlty things did not work out as antcipated on this trip as Mike explains in this report.

The latest mission to Serbia was to the remote village of Rudno which lies in the mountain range 90 kilometres North West of Kraljevo. It is a steady climb on the winding road to the height of about 3,600ft. The village could not be more rural; breath- taking scenery, peaceful, with only the birds singing, competing with each other rather than the noise of relentless traffic. Every star in the heavens could be seen, free from the “light pollution” created by cities and urban areas. It must have been an idyllic holiday resort in the days when this part of Europe was known as Yugoslavia. No longer do holiday makers flock there; the inhabitants rely on growing their own food, raising cattle and on the Red Cross.

The team hoped to be able to paint the inside of a children’s holiday home there that has been standing idle for five years. But the local council in Kraljevo disallowed it. However, Blythswood had sent a set of professional basket ball nets and these were erected in the school grounds. Fortunately, the team were able to re-furbish two class rooms in a school and a room in the food distribution centre both in Kraljevo. These are pictures of the village, the countryside and the net-ball gear being assembled.
