That’s not a cinema, is it? IS IT?
Yes it is. On Wednesday evening 10 members of our Bible Study group went to see the film Amazing Grace, the story of William Wilberforce and the abolition of the slave trade in the UK. The title of the film comes from the association between Wilberforce and John Newton, a friend and pastor who wrote the hymn of that name.

For the past five weeks the group has been studying one of the ‘York’ courses entitled ‘Can we build a better world’ featuring differences between the time of Wilberforce and today (then & now) in respect of a number of different subjects. Click here to read our earlier post announcing and describing the course. The film has been released here in the UK at a very convenient time, coinciding with the end of our course, and viewing it made a fitting conclusion to our studies. And it was a good evening out as well!
