News from the Dominican Republic
In Monday Spot on 5 March we featured Captain Gerardo Gochez and The Salvation Army’s work in the Dominican Republic. Since then we have received a copy of the Annual Report for 2006 from that country in which are outlined some of the achievements during that year made with the help of donations from outside their region. Captain Gochez has translated the report into English and we thank him for his efforts. To those who have recently given in the Annual Missionary Appeal this is a practical explanation of what is done with your donation, not only in the Dominican Republic but elsewhere throughout the world. Thanks for making 2015 kids happy….on Christmas with toys, gifts, candies and parties
Thanks for remembering the elderly….more than 822 people received bags with groceries.
Thank you for not leaving me alone….more than 8,236 people were visited in hospitals, prisons and homes
Thanks for giving me value….more than 15,600 hot meals and company to senior citizens and handicapped (challenged) people
Thank you for helping me grow healthy….more than 92,400 hot meals given to needy children
Thanks for helping me study….more than 49,400 children went to Salvation Army sponsored schools and received more than 247,000 classes
Thanks for loving me….more than 25 children have been sponsored to help cover their need of study, clothing, food and medicine.
Thanks for your friendship….more than 3,084 women learned handcrafts, made new friends, found support at the Home League club
Thanks for healing more….more than 525 people received medicines or monetary assistance to buy medicines
Thanks for helping us serve others….more than 9,675 people receive assistance at our disaster vehicle at holy week activities and two major activities at stadiums during the year
Also… thank you for caring….more than 289 people received Christian counselling in Salvation Army Centres
Thank you for taking me out….more than 120 women and children from needy areas went to have fresh air and recreation at the national aquarium in Santo Domingo city.
