Monday Spot (19 March 2007)
This week Monday Spot is concentrating on Mother’s Day, the recognition of which began on Friday morning in the ‘Mummy & Me‘ group
Leader Verna Smith had prepared some hand made Mother’s Day cards and small gifts of flowers for presentation to the Mums.
First the children played on the floor mats as usual whilst the mums enjoyed catching up with all the news since last week. Notice how old the children playing with the train set are!
Then Major Kathy shared a few Mother’s Day thoughts.
And, finally, after some ‘housekeeping’ from Verna, the mums received their flowers and cards.
A great morning! Then on Saturday our youngsters put on a ’spectacular’ for our enjoyment. Whilst not strictly a ‘mother’s day’ event all the KAOS children, and some others, worked hard to entertain us and here are some pictures.
Sunday morning saw our traditional Mother’s Day meeting led by KAOS Leader Tracy Wood. Our Scouts, Cubs, Beavers, Guides and Brownies were on ‘Church Parade’ and presented their colours for display during the meeting.
Our young people took a prominent part and flowers were presented, by the children, to their mothers. The Singing Company sang ‘SuperMum’, the Songsters ‘He loved me so’ and the Young People’s Band featured ‘He is Lord’. Songs included 362 from Songs of Fellowship and also 396 and 22 from The Salvation Army Song Book.
In the evening Major Kathy took as her subject ‘Corporate Identity’ using Philippians 2:1-11 and John 17:19-26 as her scripture pointing out that Jesus prayed for all his disciples before going to the cross. Songs included 56, 71, 70, 59 and 62 from The Salvation Army Song Book together with 298 and 145 from Songs of Fellowship.
A very busy week-end featuring the children (together with their Mums, of course). We thank God for the work which is carried on, week after week, with the children. They are so important. Next week we shall be focusing on the Band from the Cardiff Canton Corps (South Wales). Why don’t you join us if you can. See ‘2 week diary‘ and ‘Coming Events‘ for details. Have a good week!
