Group Scout Leader steps down
After many years of service with the Scouts here at Chatham Graham Phillips, our Group Scout Leader, has decided to take a break from Scouting.
The Chatham Citadel Corps would like to express its gratitude for the many years of dedicated work that Graham has put in with the Scout movement and wish him a happy ‘retirement’.
The appointment of Robert Christie to the role of Group Scout Leader will take place in the near future and we will bring you news and pictures of that occasion.
It’s been a real pleasure to work with Graham over the past 9 years with the Scout Group in Chatham.
Since Graham restarted the Cubs in 1998, he has worked tirelessly to help countless young people develop through Scouting. He restarted the Scout Troop with members of the Cub Pack as they became old enough, his wife Joy started the Beaver Scout Colony and he also started the Titan Explorer Scout Unit.
All this did not happen by accident and was not easy - Graham’s dedication to Salvation Army Scouting and to the Group in Chatham has been amazing to see up close - he will be missed.
Graham was with the Scout Group for almost nine years - a long time but only a single chapter in the 69 year history of the Group. In 2007 Scouting celebrates it’s 100th Anniversary and our Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorer Scouts will all be taking part in many activities which both remember the past and look forward to an exciting, relevant and challenging future.
