Churches Together in Medway
Only two shopping days to Christmas and Chatham High Street is buzzing with shoppers
The High Street full of shoppers
The Chatham Ministers Fraternal of ‘Churches Together in Medway’ today (Saturday) took to the High Street, with the support of the Band, to sing carols for the shoppers. On the site of a burned down shop, which has not yet been redeveloped, a Christmas Tree has been erected and the hoardings adorned with paintings provided by the children of the six churches forming the Fraternal (ours is 3rd from the left in the left hand picture - close to the tree)
The Band played some Christmas music before the carol singing began and a number of people gathered to listen. Each of the ministers concerned took part and our own Major Kathy can be seen introducing a carol.
Whilst on the subject of shops, we have received this photograph of a member of staff of John Lewis at the Bluewater Shopping Mall conducting a small group of our Songster musicians at a carolling session there earlier in the week.
The ‘Churches Together’ session in the High Street was the final public carolling session the Band will undertake this year. Many people have been reminded of the meaning of Christmas and many have seen no further than the entertainment value involved. For those who have been blessed by the music we pray that the blessing will last throughout the Christmas period and beyond. For those who have enjoyed it we are glad you did. If any have been annoyed then we rejoice in the knowledge that God has spoken to you.
