Veterans Award
Major Leslie Horwood is a frequent visitor to Chatham Corps being the father of our Songster Leader, Adrian Horwood. We regard him as part of our extended corps family and Adrian has sent us this interesting ’snippet’.
‘Visitors to the website may be interested to hear that my father, who lives in Isleworth and attends Ealing Corps, received a veterans award last week at a ceremony organised by the local MP for Hounslow and presented by the Government Minister for Defence and Veterans. More than 50 people were presented with the award, witnessed by a great crowd of family and friends, which recognises service during the First and Second World Wars. Major Horwood was in the Royal Navy between 1943 and 1946 and the photograph shows him with the lapel pin presented at the ceremony.’
We offer our congratulations to Major Horwood. If you would like to add yours you may do so via the ‘comments’ box.

What a surprise this was, and many memories were stirred. When I returned from South East Asia to Chatham Barracks, I was conscripted into the Royal Naval Band and met quite a number of fellow Salvationists, and a focal point was when we used to attend the Wednesday Evening Holiness Meeting at Chatham. It would be too lengthy to cover my Service career but very acceptable to have it acknowledged — 60 years on.
