Strictly speaking, no! Whilst made by the same company this is a variant of the true ‘Coca-Cola’. There are now many colas on the market all looking and tasting similar but not the same.
On Saturday David and Sarah celebrated the ‘real thing’ by way of becoming man and wife. A number of us were invited and had a lovely day.

In our Sunday morning meeting two ‘experts’ (Bandmaster Ray Maycock (Ret) and Josh Davis) were given the task of identifying ‘The Real Thing’ from five glasses of cola. The Coca Cola Company would be pleased to know that both managed to do so correctly, selecting the two glasses of genuine ‘Coke’ with certainty. The meeting centered around the Commandment which says ‘You shall not make for yourself an idol’, a real challenge in this modern world where there are so many things to capture our attention and upon which we can become ‘hooked’. Major Kathy led the meeting and said that those who try God know the real thing. We concluded with Catherine Baird’s song (No 5 in The Salvation Army Song Book) which includes the exhortation O may no longing of our own obscure the path by Jesus shown!
Our evening meeting was led by Major Drew. A highlight was a period of voluntary testimony when eight people, seven of them relatively new Christians, spoke about how finding Christ had changed their lives. Later Major Beverley stressed how change for the Christian is ongoing using Charles Wesley’s song ‘Love Divine, all loves excelling’ and particularly the lines from the third verse ‘Changed from glory into glory, till in heaven we take our place’. We concluded with the words of Graham Kendrick ‘Rejoice! Rejoice! Christ is in you, the hope of glory in our hearts.’
