New venture for Ladies Fellowship
The speaker for this evening (10 July) was a Music Therapist, Ben Saul, who specialises in working with children and adults with learning disabilities.
Ben gave examples of different types of music and explained the difference in people’s appreciation of music depending on their background and age.
He said that music therapy is not playing music to people but getting them to engage in making their own music so that they relax and are able to feel good about themselves.
Ben’s background is in church music having been involved in the music of Southwark Cathedral and now, more recently, having been appointed Director of Music at All Saints Church, Greenwich.
This was a new venture for the Ladies’ Fellowship but was enjoyable as well as being educational. New members are coming along, especially those walking along from Pembroke Court (a local block of apartments) – Major Alma Brown brought eight ladies with her this time!
Sorry we have no pictures to show you on this occasion. We’ll put that right in future.
