  4. Hello from windy Wirral! It seems that everytime I venture down south and visit you all, I get homesick and visit this site. The more I visit the more I want to come home! Hey Ho! I just read one of the comments in the guest book and I totally agree…..you can take the girl out of the army but you can’t take the army out of the girl!…..Love to all! I’ll be back down again before you know it!

  6. Like the website, easy to navigate and read and understand. Thanks to whoever has put in the hard work for such an invaluable tool and witness.

Only suggestion I would make is to change the background of black to a different colour although this may be because I do not have firefox which is why it is a black background!!

    Thanks

  7. Looked up the website following our visit to Croyden for
    RSA85.
What a great site with great content and design.
    We will certainly keep returning.

  8. Hello from Maidstone. Enjoyed looking at your website. Came across it via the main SA Website. Best wishes Maidstone.

  9. Hello from Christchurch New Zealand. Enjoyed your web site. Came across it while searching for the lyrics of a few of the old army songs. Some of the most beautiful words in English are found in the song book, and sadly the army in New Zealand has forgotton. Best wishes Greg

  10. It has been really good to be in touch with our home corps during recent months. I am naturally very sad at losing my sister Elsie but I want to express sincere thanks for the care that has been given to her and to her family. Thanks to all who helped to make the funeral a meaningful occasion, I think Elsie would have agreed that we carried out her wishes (or were they orders?). It was a great pleasure for us to meet the Band at Clacton on Saturday. We are very proud of our link with the past of the 16th Corps and we pray God’s blessing upon its future. Jean and Steve Russell.

  11. I live in OZ and I am visiting family in Gillingham in Sept-Oct and I know my grandmother went to Chatham Corps when she was a child, so I am very much wanting to come and visit one Sunday. I looked up your site to see what times your service’s are. I go to the Tuggeranong Corps in Canberra. Hope to come and see you when I am over there.

  12. Terrific site!

    Congratulations and well done

  13. Most enjoyable visit to Chatham on Sunday 20th May. Major Steve Russell (my father-in-law) was visiting his sister (Elsie Thompson) and also revisiting the Corps he first attended at age 7. His wife Jean was revisiting the Corps where her parents (Major and Mrs McLauchlin) had been the CO’s followed my my parents (Major & Mrs Beattie) in the late 40’s. I was revisiting the Corps where I attended the Primary class as was my wife Ann (the daughter of Major & Mrs Russell). So many memories came flooding back for each of us and our five year old daughter was thrilled to attend the Primary class that Mummy and Daddy went to. God bless Chatham Corps and all that is done there in His name.

  14. Excellent website updated so quickly. Very good weekend for us and hopefully for you.

  15. still love the website showin it to all me mates at school now they think its wiked!!! everyones coming to the next spectacular so save some seats ha ha luv it!!!! xxxxxxxxxx

  16. Hi! My name is Judith Tann and I am the daughter of ex-corps members Eric & Muriel Fisher. My Uncle Ron Symonds still attends there. I am married to Rev Rob Tann, a Uniting Church minister and we are based in Port Lincoln in rural South Australia. I love the Army in my background and have been blest to visit your website. By the way, earlier tonight Rob was talking to Lt Col Rusty Adams - also from Chatham. GOD BLESS! You can take the girl out of the Army but you can’t take the Army out of the girl….

  17. My heartiest congratulations to all concerned in this fine Chatham Salvation Army Corps website. I have long been an advocate of white text out of black or dark blue backgrounds. It is so easy on the eye. Writers of PowerPoint programmes for congregational use, please look at this fine example. The site is superb! A credit to all involved and to the corps!

  18. I LOVE THIS SITE IT IS SO INTERESTING TO VIEW. I JUST FOUND IT TODAY AFTER HEARING IT MENTIONED ON RADIO KENT. I FOUND OUT MORE ABOUT THE SALVATION ARMY THROUGH THE MAIN PAGE AND THEN FOUND THIS LOCAL SITE AS I LIVE IN CHATHAM. WELL DONE TO ALL INVOLVED. GOD RICHLY BLESS YOU ALL

  19. Not as easy as the old site to navigate and layout a little strange. Excellent graphics, however. What happened to the “old photographs”?

  20. Hey all! Just discovered this website and noted how fab it is! Really informative + I feel like I have an idea of what’s going on at the corps even though I’m not there!

    Keep up the good work!

Will hopefully see you all soon.

  21. Wow, its updated and funky! Great look. Thanks for keeping it updated it is so refreshing to be able to see what is going on on a weekly basis rather than wait for weeks for it to be updated! Thanks I really love to see you all on the website!

  22. Well done for making such a good website. Thanx, I love it.

  23. Well done Ben for the graphic design! Striking artwork, cleverly made. Thankyou.

  24. Great site - congratulations to Murray and his team for the efforts made and the wonderful results. Even though we are 1000’s of miles away on holiday, it’s really great to be able to keep in touch with what’s going on - see you all very soon. God Bless

  25. It’s great to see that you have a vibrant website with lots of information about the corps and the current news and events. It’s nice to keep in touch with events now I’m across the pond in the US.

  26. Hey guys, it’s Cat (McCombe) Just wanted to encourage you in all you’re doing with this site, I love it

  27. Great to see the site up again, and I’m sure it will be updated frequently and enthusiastically. A lot’s changed since I left the Corps 23 years ago, and even since I was last there four years ago, but the heart of the place is just the same.

We haven’t got a Corps website at Wellington City which is a great shame - and I’ve said so. Not sure whether anything will happen soon though.

Anyway a big Kiwi G’day (or Kia Ora) to everyone at No 16. (Editor’s note - Chatham was the 16th corps to be opened in The Salvation Army in 1873 when it was still called The Christian Mission)

  28. Nice to find your website.  I will look into it more in the near future. My family and I are originally from Belfast, N. Ireland, coming to Canada in 1967. We love to hear from back home. Our home corps was Dee Street now Sydenham and still a force in East Belfast. We pray your website will do very well. God Bless
    Gerald & Sarah Reilly

  29. Good to see the site up and running again. Keep it up and we will be able to keep up with events “at home”

  30. Now that I have navigated through this amazing new web site I have to congratulate all who have been involved in developing it. As the designer and webmaster of the old site I too, like Peter Wood, originally found the lack of a “conventional” home page a little odd, but it has grown on me and I like the immediacy of relevant information you receive as soon as you get in.
I am also extremely pleased that all my hard work in transcribing the history information for the old site has been preserved and indeed enhanced in the way it is presented and that the ongoing presence of Chatham Corps on the web is now assured.
As a firm believer in the place technology has in presenting the Christian message I am sure Chatham Corps will benefit from all the obvious hard work that has gone into this venture.

  31. great site nice colours keep it up X X X X X

  32. Congratulations on a web site that’s a bit different! Nice to have excerpts from the current weekend’s events included - long may it continue. I also like the photographs. Our Corps (Montreal Citadel) web site is a work in progress at present

  33. New Site:- The Opening Title Page is absolutely superb, picture is really impressive
The Home Page is a bit unusual, with news items and some links. I would like to see a ‘Statement’ page with the Officer Team shown, The Mission Statement and the Links to all the site sections.
(currently I find it takes too many ‘clicks’ to access some sites) I think your present front page would fit nicely into a 2nd page.
I am working my way through the remainder and found that you all have been working very hard to produce such a sophisticated Web-site and congratulate you on your efforts so far.
I did find it a bit difficult to navigate through the ‘links’ but I amsure this will improve with time.

Peter Wood - yes Father and Brother to those mentioned above and Father of Tracy (YPSM) and Sam (Primary Sgt.)

  34. Fascinating site. It will take at least a week to read just the history! Who typed all that lot in?
Pleased to see that Kathy has a smile on the news item of her promotion to Major!
I had to ring Drew’s home to find out the website address; it was well worth it.

  35. Great site. Keep up the good work. Dont forget to put a link from your web page on the main UKT site as you will get more visitors who would normally use that route. DHQ/THQ should be able to help you with this.

  36. Thanks to all who have left comments today. You have been very kind. Thanks also to those who have sent emails.

  37. The web site is great and brings back many good memories of worship in Chatham.
    Keep up the good work
John Wood (Uncle to the Wood siblings)

  38. Can I congratulate you all on a fantastic web page. Very professional, very impressive, and very easy to browse. Well done to you all. Makes me feel proud to be connected with the Army. Keep up the good work. Kim Massey (One of the many Wood siblings!!)

  39. excellent site long awaited but we got there in the end X X X X X X X
